When it comes to flat roofing, no matter how well it is installed, the roof will only be as good as the materials that are used. That’s why at Masters Roofing we use only the highest quality materials available in the industry. PVC is used frequently in Edmonds Roofing to preserve the water front views. One of our top choices for roofing material is PVC single-ply membrane. Why? With PVC single ply membrane, you get:
PVC stands for “polyvinyl chloride,” which is a tough synthetic resin known for its durability and versatility. In fact, within the roofing industry, PVC is considered to be the most durable of all flat roofing materials. As the name suggests, “single-ply,” refers to the fact that our PVC membranes consist of a single layer of membrane as both waterproof and weather surface. Single-ply membranes have become increasingly popular over the years because of their relative ease of installation, flexibility and competitive cost. Because of its chemical make-up, PVC single-ply has the added advantage of being able to withstand thermal movement. That means that PVC will not crack, buckle or deteriorate under the stress of extreme temperature variations. It can withstand excessive heat and extreme cold equally as well, and because of its flexibility, can expand and contract without damage when the temperatures suddenly change. Plus, by its nature, PVC can endure even the most punishing weather conditions, including heavy rain, ice and snow. As an added benefit, PVC membranes are also one of the only two types of flat roofing membranes that have hot welded seams (TPO being the other type). Hot welded seams will never come apart no matter what the weather and therefore will consistently prevent moisture from penetrating through the roof. In fact, when properly installed, a PVC roof should last well over 30 years!
Still, PVC membranes can have very different formulations, durability and specifications, depending on the manufacturer. That’s why, at Masters Roofing, we obtain all our PVC roofing from either GAF or Versico, two of the most well known and trusted names in the roofing industry. GAF has been in business since 1986, and has quickly become North America’s largest manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing. Versico is listed as one of the top three single-ply roofing system manufacturers in the United States, and is a recognized leader in cutting edge technology within the roofing industry. Consequently, the experts at Masters Roofing are confident that our customers are getting the best, highest quality roofing materials available. In fact, all our PVC membranes are at least 50 ml thick, and are naturally fire retardant. In addition, they are UV resistant, and Energy Star qualified.
Still, even given the durability and longevity of PVC membranes, at Masters Roofing, we always go the extra mile to ensure you are getting the best flat roof possible. We never cut corners on installation. Our PVC roofing is mechanically attached, which means that each row of membrane is fastened to the roof deck with high quality roofing screws and barbed plates. We don’t attach our roofing membranes with adhesives, which means you don’t have to worry about bubbling or weak spots. In addition, we strip off the old roof prior to attaching the new. This way, we can examine your roof and address any moisture issues or other trouble spots to avoid problems down the road. In addition, as an added layer of protection, Masters Roofing will install a fiberglass reinforcing scrim (which is a layer of material made from lightweight yet durable spun fiberglass) to further increase the membrane’s strength and puncture resistance. This way, you can be sure that your roof will remain trouble-free and will last for many years to come!
